Book Coaches
While hiring a Vanity Press like Author House or Publish America is NEVER a good idea, hiring a good book coach can help the independent publisher navigate the publishing minefield. The book coach serves as a freelance book production department, helping you find the right editor, book designer and printer. Book packagers also fall into this general category. Keep in mind that you as the book publisher have the final say and responsibility for every aspect of your book production so be extra careful in hiring a book coach. Look at their resume as you would any other employee.
